A lecture-screening by Fred Camper, October 8, 2011, at Yale University
This is a long screening in two parts, the first designed partly for those whose experience with experimental/avant-garde film is limited, though it should also interest others; the second part is for anyone interested in the field. Eeach film is highly fragmented, splitting the seen world into small, sometimes seemingly minuscule, pieces, to then create a new reality through recombinations.
Works screened, in the order in which they will be shown:
Mothlight (1963), by Stan Brakhage
The Riddle of Lumen (1972), by Stan Brakhage
Chartres Series (1994), by Stan Brakhage
Castro Street (1966), by Bruce Baillie
Fuji (1974), by Robert Breer
Swiss Army Knife With Rats and Pigeons (1981), by Robert Breer
[Short break]
The End (1953), by Christopher Maclaine
Very Nice, Very Nice (1961), by Arthur Lipsett
A Trip Down Memory Lane (1965), by Arthur Lipsett
Seven Days (1974), by Chris Welsby
